So it's Patterson...
Pat Patterson is the new mayor. Another "Square" business owner. What is everyone's take oh him? Seems he was quite the popular choice for voters.

RE: So it's Patterson...
I have known Pat for many years, some as a city employee while he was on the Board. While I didn't agree with all of his decisions, I can respect him because he stood by his opinions and offered explinations for them. He was always fair and consistant.

He is also a money man. We joked with him about being a tight wad, but with the economy in the condition it is, that is what Oxford needs right now.

Hey, Oxie

What do you mean by "money man"? He can make it well?

RE: So it's Patterson...
He is a small business owner. Like most of those, money is a driving concern. He has managed to build a strong, profitable business. Having worked with him at the city, he has always been very fiscally conservative with spending. He always seemed to want the most bang for the buck. Wasn't keen on spending money just to spend it. This went against some of us, as city employees, when it came to raises, but I still saw where he was coming from and respected that.

Didn't Patterson help start one of the banks? And he's had the sporting goods store on the Square forever. So now he can walk from his office to his store just crossing the street. Howorth had to walk all the way across the Square! Hahaha.

But I think Patterson will be a good mayor for Oxford. He loves the place. Has deep, deep roots here. And can manage a pocketbook.

IIRC, Patterson is either a shareholder, or on the board of directors, (maybe both) for Oxford University Bank.

Patterson seems to have a little bit different style than Howorth did. I don't miss the bowties though. Haha. But I think both were/will be good mayors.
